As a subject matter expert, you’ll work across multi-functional teams to shape technical direction, drive engineering excellence, and lead a team of highly skilled engineers through both operational and transformative work. What you’ll do Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that support operational stability and strategic change. Represent the specialist function in senior forums, influencing decision&8209;making and shaping technology strategy. Oversee resource planning and allocation across Run and Change activities. Develop and implement policies, procedures and engineering practices that enhance quality and efficiency. Lead strategic negotiations with key stakeholders and vendors. Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to deliver creative, effective solutions aligned to business goals. Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance to architects and developers. Monitor and report on delivery progress, addressing issues promptly to keep both operational improvements and change initiatives on track. Identify, mitigate and manage risks across services and projects. Define and document processes that uplift engineering efficiency, resilience and service quality. Foster a culture of continual improvement, learning and collaboration. Oversee maintenance and enhancement of service infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance. Manage third&8209;party suppliers to ensure solutions are secure, resilient and aligned with bank and client expectations. Ensure all engineering activity adheres to relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements. What you’ll need Technology delivery: Experience providing leadership across complex, cross&8209;platform technical deliveries spanning multiple teams and business units. Software Engineering: Deep understanding of the full software lifecycle, ensuring robust standards across design, development, testing and deployment. Operational optimisation: Proven experience improving Run operations for high&8209;availability systems, including automation, monitoring and observability. Service Sustainability & Incident Resolution: Strong track record of resolving incidents and identifying root causes. Technology leadership: Able to define engineering standards and align solutions with business strategy and architectural principles. DevOps Pipeline optimisation experience. Familiarity with automated testing and process automation. Significant experience delivering technical solutions in an Agile environment.
