Hours: 40 hours, Mon – Fri, 7am - 4pm
Reports to: Catering Manager
As a nursery chef, you'll prepare and cook nutritional and balanced meals and desserts for all the children in the nursery, making substitutions based on individual dietary requirements.
You’re the best at …
* Preparing well-balanced and nutritious meals (including purees) according to menu plans for all children attending our nurseries
* Training Kitchen Assistants in all areas, especially health & safety and hygiene
* Undertaking daily cleaning routines, such as mopping, sweeping, wiping surfaces, and cleaning kitchen equipment, crockery, and cutlery
* Keeping paperwork and records up to date for safety and future reference
* Taking stock of dry and frozen foods before ordering and communicating this to the Head Chef
* Monitoring wastage across nurseries and adjusting menus based on meal popularity
You will need…
* Knowledge of catering for children’s dietary requirements, following current legislation and best practices
* Understanding of requirements to achieve the highest rating from the local council’s Environmental Health Department
* Ability to implement relevant policies and procedures
* Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (Required)
* Completed Allergen Training
