About the Role
We’re looking for a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our office-based team in Milton Keynes, This role supports the Commercial and General Manager in overseeing financial and commercial activities across housing contracts. You’ll play a key role in budget control, forecasting, reporting, and ensuring commercial performance meets high standards of quality, safety, and value.
Role Responsibilities
1. Attend and support with client and subcontractor meetings to support contract delivery and relationship management
2. Assist with monthly branch P&L reporting and financial forecasting
3. Prepare and submit accurate invoicing for clients in line with contract terms
4. Monitor and manage budgets across multiple workstreams, ensuring cost control and value for money
5. Support procurement activities, including subcontractor selection and negotiation
6. Review and manage contract variations, change orders, and lifecycle submissions
7. Ensure compliance with JCT contract requirements and commercial governance
8. Conduct site visits and liaise with operational teams to validate progress and financial claims
9. Produce commercial reports and analysis to support strategic decision-making
10. Collaborate with operational and finance teams to ensure alignment on project delivery
11. Maintain accurate records of valuations, payments, and contractual documentation
12. Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle
13. Ensure all activities meet health and safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Role Criteria
14. Strong communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
15. Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems
16. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
