Description
Join our dynamic Student Finance team as a key player in safeguarding the University's financial health and reputation. This role is central to managing invoicing, student and commercial accounts, and driving effective credit control strategies. You'll take ownership of debt management processes, ensuring timely payments and maintaining strong relationships with students and external partners.
Beyond credit control, you'll ensure compliance with financial procedures and collaborate with stakeholders across departments to deliver exceptional service levels. This is an opportunity to make a real impact on the University's financial performance while developing your expertise in account management and debt recovery.
About the Role
Within in the role, you will assist with accurate and timely invoicing in line with contracts and schedules, while managing accounts and debt through effective credit control processes. The role involves resolving complex fee queries, working closely with the Student Loan Company (SLC) and University services, and building strong customer relationships. You will support month-end reporting, audits, and financial assurance activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and monitoring fraud risks. You will also contribute to process and system improvements, testing upgrades and keeping up to date with policy changes that impact student finance.
About You
* GCSE Maths & English (Grade C+) or NVQ2 equivalent
* Experience in financial operations, account management, and credit control
* Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Google Chrome).Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* AAT qualification (or working towards)
* Experience with finance systems and debt management
* Background in large, complex organisations
* Knowledge of Higher Education environment

Additional Information
Salary: Grade 5, starting from £29,588 rising to £33,002 per annum
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Occasional weekend working will be required during the year for which appropriate conditions of service will apply.
Please note that as of April 2024, there has been a change in the UK's sponsorship threshold. Regrettably as the salary for this role falls beneath this, you will not be eligible for sponsorship therefore your application will automatically be rejected.
