Specialist Test and Repair Engineer - Nuclear Materials - Reading
Join us as a Specialist Test and Repair Engineer focusing on Nuclear Materials in Reading. This role involves fault finding, diagnostics, and circuit board repairs, supporting a team of Hardware/Software Engineers.
Role Overview
Location: Berkshire, RG7 4PR (between Reading and Basingstoke) with free onsite parking
Salary: Starting at £34,000, progressing up to £48,000 based on competencies
Work Pattern: 9-day fortnight with flexible working options
Key Responsibilities
* Maximize system uptime to meet SLAs
* Support 1st line fault diagnosis
* Test and repair electronic circuit boards and equipment
* Maintain simulation systems for testing
* Diagnose network issues in Ethernet and Serial RS232
* Create and manage circuit boards and maintain stock levels
* Engage in system enhancement projects using prototyping and PCB CAD design
* Maintain hardware defect databases and MTBF logs
* Respond to customer inquiries and prepare reports
* Uphold high standards in safety, environment, and quality
* Provide training to support teams
Candidate Profile
Essential: HND or equivalent in electronics, excellent PCB repair skills, fault diagnosis, soldering, and PCB rework skills. Experience with CAD, good communication, team working, and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills: Circuit board design, command line proficiency in Windows/Linux, version control, and experience with Proteus or Mentor Graphics.
