We are now expanding our technical team in the UK.
The Role
We’re hiring a Founding Engineer to work directly with the CTO and CEO. This is not a typical software engineering role. You’ll help build the core systems that power Paldo’s intelligence engine. The decisions you make will shape our architecture, velocity, and product direction from the ground up.
We’re not looking for someone to maintain a roadmap. We’re looking for someone who wants to build at the edge, where data is noisy and constraints are real. You will operate with high autonomy and meaningful equity ownership.

Core Responsibility
* Develop features, MVPs, and core capabilities across our entire stack, from raw signal ingestion pipelines through LLM analysis to the frontend UI.
* Adapt and expand our signal engine as product requirements evolve through customer feedback and scaling.
* Own platform health via debugging and troubleshooting.
* Lead engineering decisions that balance speed of development with engineering excellence.
* Lead technical design reviews and conversations with the CTO and CEO.
* Balance technical debt strategically: use it tactically to accelerate development, and pay it down when it blocks progress.
What We’re Looking For
We care more about depth than years, but most successful candidates will have:
* 2+ years building real-world production systems, ideally in a startup or growth-stage environment.
* Deep engagement with the AI ecosystem. You actively track new models, tooling, and research, and continuously experiment with new ways to build products or refine your personal workflows.
* Experience integrating LLMs beyond prototypes.
* Strong foundations in Python, TypeScript, and React.
* Experience with async systems (Celery, Redis, queues).
* Experience working in ambiguous startup environments.
How You Operate
* You’re your own toughest critic. You ship fast, but you don’t tolerate sloppy thinking. High agency is default; when something’s broken, you fix it. No ego, no politics.
* You understand early-stage trade-offs and know when to move scrappy versus when to build for scale.
* You think in systems and care about business impact, not just clean abstractions.
Bonus Points If You
* Have experience with knowledge graphs or GraphRAG.
* Have previous startup founding or early employee experience.
* Have built internal tooling to accelerate development.
