Streamline Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Import Operator to join a well-established and team based in Thurrock.
This role offers the chance to take ownership of the full import process, working closely with colleagues and customers. It’s a great opportunity for an experienced operator who wants to bring their expertise into a busy, collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Handling imports to the UK from start to finish, with a focus on deep sea shipments.
Coordinating with overseas agents, shipping lines, and hauliers to ensure smooth and timely movement of cargo.
Preparing and issuing pricing for shipments, securing bookings, and confirming arrangements with all parties involved.
Managing and checking all documentation required for imports, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and customs procedures.
Overseeing the customs process – while entry work isn’t required, you’ll need a solid understanding of the procedures, documentation, and requirements needed for clearance.
Organising and managing groupage containers where required.
Monitoring shipments in transit, updating customers proactively, and resolving any issues that arise.
Maintaining accurate records, updating internal systems, and ensuring information is shared clearly with the wider team.
What we’re looking for:
Strong understanding of the import process and related documentation
Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with agents, carriers, and customers
Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple shipments at once
Details:
Hours: 9:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
Salary: £33,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience)
