Overview
Senior Communications Officer for the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), part of GCHQ. Work across press office and social media functions to deliver proactive announcements, manage emerging stories and media enquiries, and shape public conversation on cyber‑related issues.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver communications strategies addressing national infrastructure protection and countering state cyber threats.
* Craft press releases, reactive statements and brief journalists on breaking news, including high‑profile cyber incidents.
* Generate creative and engaging social media content, providing strategic direction for NCSC channels.
* Participate in press duty rota outside core business hours, including travel to other UK sites and occasional international travel.
Qualifications and Experience
* Extensive experience in government communications, journalism or public relations; exemplary written and verbal skills.
* Capacity to present technical information in clear, compelling, and accessible ways.
* Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
* Calm under pressure, with a keen interest in news and ability to spot relevant stories, emerging issues and trends.

Eligibility and Clearance
Applicants must be British citizens or hold dual British nationality. The role requires the highest security clearance – Developed Vetting (DV). Candidates must meet the strict drug policy, hold a valid UK driver’s licence and live within commuting distance of London, Manchester or Cheltenham.
