Job Title: General / Site Manager
Salary: £66,000
Location: NormantonOur client is currently seeing exceptional growth and now requires a general manager to oversee the site based in Normanton. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a detailed understanding / management of closed & open book commercial accounts. This will be overseeing all 250 employees onsite and management agency staff.
Purpose of the role
* The purpose of this role is to lead the warehouse team to deliver sustainable results, excellent customer service and implement best practise to ensure a safe and engaging workplace.
Main duties and responsibilities
What you do:
* Lead the commercial relationship with the site customers
* Produce the site budget and budget revisions in conjunction with the Fulfilment Director and Head of Finance
* Provide operational and strategic leadership for the site management team
* Manage the day to day resources of the warehouse operation and ensure that the operational goods in and goods out functions are planned efficiently
* Ensure that all staff, visitors and contractors working on/visiting site comply with the health and safety policy requirements
* Liaise with Imports/QC/Transport and operational managers to ensure overall service levels and cost targets are achieved
* Maintain appropriate customer contact with senior customer representatives
* Manage relationships with both UK and International courier and parcel companies as well as pallet network services
* Be a proactive member of the business senior operations team supporting peers across all sites within the business
* Manage the operations and contracts ensuring that the site as a minimum achieves Budget profitability
* Constantly review internal and external best practice and develop future solutions for agreement and implementation within the warehouse operation
* Build relationships with each and every customer to ensure the business has the opportunity to expand the services offered in line with the clients changing requirements.
* Ensure that all site rules and regulations are adhered to and that all accidents are investigated and reported accordingly
* Ensure all operatives to Supervisors are managed and motivated through an annual review process with SMART objectives
* Maintain excellent standard of hygiene and housekeeping
* Ensure hazard spotting is carried out and documented
* Playing an active part in the site management team including assisting other contracts when required.

* Extensive experience of managing large and complex warehousing operations
* Experience of management of both closed book and open book commercial accounts
* An innovator with a positive and pro-active approach to change
* Ability to perform under pressure
* Able to use initiative, organise own workload in an efficient and effective manner
* Creative approach to problem solving and to thinking ’outside the box’
* Excellent communication skills (both verbal and in writing)
* A good level of numeracy
* Understanding of basic employment law
* IT skills (Microsoft Office and Warehousing Systems)
* An understanding of current of health & safety regulations
