The Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for delivering technical solutions across a range of projects and technical areas, and for guiding and checking the technical solutions of more junior Engineers as necessary, on time and budget, and in accordance with all relevant Engineering and Company procedures. The Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer will be proactive in determining the optimum technical solution for each project, identifying improvements that offer advantages in terms of time, cost, or safety, enabling the Company to deliver work more effectively. The engineer will stay updated with current practices and developments in their technical area and will bring new technology, innovations, or relevant legislative changes to the Company’s attention. Additionally, they will support the development of company policies and procedures, and identify new tools, software, or processes that could enhance technical delivery efficiency.

Essential Accountabilities
* Preparation of instrument and analytical datasheets.
* SIL verification according to BS EN 61508 and BS EN 61511 standards.
* Development of block cable diagrams, cable routing, and equipment layout drawings.
* Creation of hook-up, loop, and termination diagrams.
* Development of P&ID diagrams.
* Participation in hazard studies (levels 1 to 3).
* SIL determination using risk graphs and LOPA techniques.
* Preparation of Safety Requirements Specifications in accordance with BS EN 61511.
* Design of alarm management and HMI interfaces.
* Development of trip, interlock, and alarm schedules.
* Review of user requirements and functional design specifications.
* Design of fire and gas detection systems.
* Creating instrument index including I/O assignments.
* Selection of control systems, field instruments, and materials.
Desirable
* Proficiency in 3D modeling, specifically evaluation using Navisworks.
Commercial & Risk Management
* Timely communication of potential project risks to project or line managers.
* Work within allocated CTR, man-hours, and budget constraints.
* Maintain awareness of the commercial status of projects, manage changes, and control budgets.
* Support project planning, milestone development, and incorporate approved changes into project plans.
* Represent EFAB professionally in meetings and forums, and assist in business development activities including estimating, proposals, and stakeholder communication.
