ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Fire & Security Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of skilled engineers responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm, CCTV, and Access Control systems across the UK.
This hybrid position combines office-based responsibilities, including team oversight, scheduling, compliance and quoting, with on-site supervision, inspections, and hands-on support as required.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to lead, coach, and motivate a national engineering team, ensuring full compliance, client satisfaction, and consistent high-quality service delivery.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WITHIN YOUR SPECIFIED AREA
Lead and supervise a national team of Fire & Security Engineers, ensuring the effective delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across client sites.
Act as the technical escalation point, supporting engineers with complex system faults, design queries, and compliance challenges.
Manage and maintain the engineering rota, ensuring adequate cover for planned work and reactive callouts (including standby or outofhours duty as required).
Supervise onsite activities, ensuring safe working practices, quality standards, and technical integrity.
Oversee small installation projects, ensuring delivery against scope, budget, and quality standards.
Collaborate with internal teams to maintain accurate CAFM records, including maintenance logs, service history, and compliance documentation.
Deliver toolbox talks, technical coaching, and regulatory updates to ensure continuous team competence.
Support multiskilled engineers when operational needs require.
Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to manage expectations, resolve escalations, and ensure satisfaction.
Support line management with performance monitoring, training needs identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
There will be an element of National travel as and when required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Demonstrable experience in a supervisory or senior engineering role within Fire & Security or Facilities Management.
Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including the ability to review and enforce RAMS and safe systems of work.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage workloads, rotas, and team performance.
Recognised qualifications in Fire & Security Systems, such as:
City & Guilds 1853 / 1854 or equivalent
NVQ Level 3 in Fire & Security Systems
FIA Units 1-6 (Design, Installation, Maintenance, Servicing)
Excellent understanding of relevant standards, including:
BS 5839-1 Fire Detection & Alarm Systems
BS EN 50131 Intruder Alarm Systems
BS EN 62676 CCTV Systems
BS EN 60839 Access Control Systems
IOSH Managing Safely, or similar H&S qualification.
Previous experience supervising in a facilities or estate maintenance environment (e.g. education, healthcare, commercial offices, retail).
Basic understanding of M&E systems (e.g. HVAC, lighting, water hygiene) and ability to support multi-skilled operatives as required.
Experience with CAFM systems and compliance reporting.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
Experience overseeing small works or refurbishment projects.
Asbestos awareness (Desirable)
Electrical qualifications or knowledge(desirable)
