Job Description
Fastmarkets is launching an independent, fast‑growing legal function and seeks a Legal Counsel to be part of the Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team. The Legal Counsel will report directly to the Senior Legal Counsel and support the organization’s global legal, risk, compliance, privacy and secretarial services.
Responsibilities
* Support and manage commercial legal issues on a global basis, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial agreements, intellectual property, information technology, data licensing, disputes and litigation, data privacy, electronic contracting and employment matters.
* Assist the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel in establishing systems, processes and controls to manage legal risk and support business objectives.
* Adopt a pragmatic, business‑orientated approach, implementing practical, scalable solutions to meet strategic goals.
* Draft, negotiate and advise on a range of agreements, leading projects when requested.
* Support Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel on projects, business implementation and commercial contracts.
* Collaborate with Risk, Compliance and Company Secretarial teams on related issues.
* Represent LRC at stakeholder meetings such as steering groups and working parties.
* Work closely with legal vendors to manage day‑to‑day service delivery, triaging and prioritizing work.
* Monitor legal developments and translate them into actionable plans for the business.
* Conduct horizon scanning on legal and regulatory change in key business markets.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
Applicants should have 3–6 years of post‑qualification legal experience, ideally as a UK‑qualified solicitor, with a background in either in‑house or private practice. Global experience and strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills—particularly in sales and supply agreements, IT procurement contracts, SaaS agreements and MSAs—are preferred. Exceptional written communication abilities and the capacity to produce high‑quality, well‑structured documentation are essential.
