Residential Activity Coordinator (Mirfield)

Role: Residential Activity Coordinator (Mirfield)
Location: Mirfield, WF14 0DQ
Salary: £12.31/hr
Hours: 22.5-37.5hrs per week available (some weekend working)

Note: Sponsorship to work in the UK is not available, and 6 months of UK-based work experience is requested prior to applying.

Hollybank Trust is looking for Activity Coordinators to join our Mirfield services on a full or part-time basis, including some weekend and evening work.

At Hollybank Trust we support adults and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to live life to the fullest. This role involves working with adults across the week, with responsibilities that may include weekend work and varied hours.

Key duties

* Plan, create and lead on planned activities that can be delivered to our adults across the week.
* Create innovative ways for our adults and support staff to interact and engage with new activities.
* Establish and maintain positive relationships with our adults, complementing and contributing to their person-centred care plans.
* Deliver a sustainable and adaptable enrichment programme, regularly evaluated to remain exciting and individualised.
* Evidence adult engagement and involvement through photos, videos, and other methods.
* Liaise with other professionals, internally and externally, and with families to maximise the effectiveness of the programme.

Main responsibilities

* Development of autonomy - Delivery: establish and maintain relationships with adults, contribute to Person-Centred Plans, and create a safe, enjoyable environment.
* Delivery of a sustainable enrichment programme with ongoing evaluation and adaptation.
* Plan, deliver and evaluate needs-led activities to increase independence, participation and enjoyment.
* Lead on and evidence adult involvement; maintain records of involvement; support visiting professionals and individuals’ care outcomes.
* Development of autonomy - Administration: review activities, maintain records (session plans, schemes of work, person-centred plans, significant events), and document tasks in required systems.
* Monitor changes in Care Plans to ensure high-quality support; record incidents electronically and communicate with the team as needed.
* Personal development: develop session content, participate in CPD and supervision, and share learning with the team.
* Adult welfare: ensure weekly activity timetables, promote independence and engagement, and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
* Nutritional needs, personal care and manual handling: support with dignity, hygiene, and safety following care plans and training.
* Environment and property: keep the physical environment safe and tidy; report maintenance needs; manage equipment for activities.
* Social, leisure and community experience: provide access to activities, support transport where needed, and build community links.


General responsibilities and professional expectations

* Best practice: stay informed of current initiatives and share ideas to improve performance.
* People development: engage in supervision, performance reviews, and ongoing training; identify training needs.
* Attitude: act as a professional ambassador for Hollybank Trust and maintain a positive, proactive approach.
* Policy promotion and risk management: promote equal opportunities, health and safety, disability awareness, data protection; assist in risk management and safeguarding procedures.
* Confidentiality: handle information in line with data protection and governance policies.
* Flexibility: perform other duties as needed to meet organisational needs.
* General responsibilities: be confident, curious, happy, and kind; maintain professional standards and seek support when needed.
