Phoenix MCT
Clinical associate psychologist
Posted: 10 July
Offer description

Join to apply for the Clinical Associate Psychologist (CAP) role at Phoenix MCT.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county, including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.

We are looking for a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist to join the mid-area iCMHTs.

Applicants should be self-motivated, ideally have prior experience working in acute mental health services, and have completed the MSc course in Clinical Associate Psychology to be considered for this position.

Successful candidates will be eligible to apply for graduate membership of The British Psychological Society (BPS).

A Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) is a member of the Psychology Department who works as a semi-autonomous practitioner within an agreed scope of practice in an identified clinical team, under the direct supervision of an HCPC registered, qualified Practitioner Psychologist.

CAPs work as scientist practitioners, using psychological knowledge, research, and theory to reduce psychological distress and enhance psychological wellbeing. Their interventions are informed but not wholly determined by problem-specific treatment protocols, which are adapted using the developing evidence base, applied service research, and evaluation, in conjunction with their clinical supervisor.

CAPs provide a specialist mental health service for patients/service users of their team. They also collaborate across service boundaries to offer consultation, supervision, training, and service development to the wider Trust. They support teams through research to Masters level, service evaluation, and dissemination of outcome measures.

We are an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, delivering community and hospital-based care to improve physical and mental health. We also provide specialized support for people with dementia or learning disabilities.

We are a people-focused organization. As part of our team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the local community in this beautiful region.

Our Trust comprises over 4,000 staff, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support personnel.

We work in people's homes, community clinics, bases, and some staff are based in 13 community hospitals. Our goal is to have great people providing great care, being a great place to work, and forming great partnerships.

Approximately 568,000 residents live here. Many are supported by hospital services in Devon, especially during holidays and summer. We work closely with our partners in Devon to serve the wider community.

For a detailed job description and person specification, including main responsibilities, please see the supporting documents.
