Job Description

1. Job Title: Business Development Executive

As a Business Development Executive, you will be a key player in expanding SGS’s customer base and increasing market share in the Materials Testing sector. This field-based role is focused on identifying and converting new business opportunities, reactivating lapsed clients, and increasing engagement with current customers across a wide range of industries.

Key Responsibilities

6. Identify and win new business from prospects and lapsed clients.
7. Develop and deliver compelling presentations and business cases to customers.
8. Maximise revenue opportunities within new and existing client accounts
9. Work collaboratively across business units to promote SGS’s full suite of services.
10. Maintain up-to-date records using SGS CRM systems in line with KPI expectations.
11. Remain informed of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
12. Act in accordance with SGS Responsible Sales & Marketing and Code of Integrity policies.

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

13. Proven experience in a technical B2B sales role.
14. Strong track record in new business development and account growth.
15. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
16. Experience with CRM systems and a performance-driven sales environment.
17. Strong commercial acumen with a consultative, value-based sales approach.
18. Self-motivated and able to work independently.
19. Willingness to travel and stay away from home as required (including internationally).
20. IT literate (MS Office and CRM tools).

Desirable

21. Experience in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) sector.
22. Knowledge of materials testing, engineering, or scientific industries.
23. Familiarity with budgeting and sales forecasting.
24. Project Management or Customer Service qualifications.

Qualifications

25. Essential: Sales qualification or significant relevant experience; full, clean UK driving license.
26. Desirable: Degree in a technical, engineering, or scientific discipline; professional certifications (Prince2, Six Sigma, NVQ, etc.).
