Job Title: Production Manager - assembly operations
Pay: up to £60,000 DOE
Location: Castle Donington
Hours: Flex - Monday to Thursday 8 hrs start time between 7am and 8:30am, Friday 6 hrs start time between 7am and 8:30am (38 hr week)
Holidays and Benefits: 33 days, pension 4% by employer, death in service 2x salary
Team size/structure: Managing a team of approx. 20 – machining, quality, planning/purchasing, assembly build, stores, electrical assembly. Reporting to the Operations Director.
Environment: Manufacturing – Assembly/mechanical and electrical machine building
Overview
Working in a modern, clean and purpose‑built manufacturing facility, the Production Manager works closely with senior leadership to manage production teams and ensure bespoke machinery is built to standard and on time. The role liaises closely with all departments to maximise communication and ensure the smooth and timely operation of the Manufacturing department.
Key responsibilities
* Lead effectively to develop team potential and drive continuous improvement
* Accountable for on‑time delivery of machines and aftermarket products
* Oversee Health & Safety in collaboration with the Operations Director
* Track and improve KPIs to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and support continuous improvement
* Optimise production efficiency (mechanical and electrical) to maximise gross profit
* Ensure production meets targets aligned with order book and delivery schedules
* Collaborate across departments to deliver projects on time and resolve issues promptly
Qualifications and desired experience
* Strong people management skills; previously worked in a manufacturing/production environment that includes assembly (mechanical and electrical assembly or machine build)
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
* Confident at bringing new ideas and implementing them
* Leadership / Management qualifications
* Experience writing SOPs and forecasting to a budget
* Experience with continuous improvement tools and techniques
* Proven analytical and report‑writing skills
* Ability to manage and take responsibility for people and processes
