Senior Technical Scientist (Job Ref: 25N/STCH)

Location: Randox Science Park (30 Randalstown Road, Antrim, BT41 4LF).
Contract Offered: Full-time, permanent
Working Hours / Shifts: 8.40am to 5.20pm, Monday to Friday; some flexibility will be required.
Responsibilities
* Conduct routine clinical diagnostic testing for technical projects.
* Routine use of the RCLS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
* Perform analytical procedures including manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests.
* Prepare and handle samples and diagnostic reagents; operate various automated analytical systems.
* Maintain analytical records, prepare validation plans, review analytical data, and write reports to evaluate and conclude results.
* Maintain and calibrate analytical instrumentation; perform troubleshooting on technical issues.
* Review and plan validation for proposed processes related to clinical diagnostic testing.
* Assist with training of staff.
* Work to timelines / deadlines as guided by the Technical Manager or Technical Team Leader.
* Write detailed reports demonstrating rigorous analysis of results.
* Prepare and present R&D Design Reviews to Senior Management.
* Meet targets on established validation projects.
* Stay up to date with current methods and technologies for project work.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a Life Science subject.
* HCPC Biomedical Scientist registration.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Experience in validation procedures and relevant project management skills.
* Experience in analysis and documentation of large data sets.
* Experience in the operation of clinical chemistry, immunoassay or haematology instrumentation.
* Experience in training staff members.
* Experience in the use of project management software.
