The post is funded by the Royce to investigate methacrylate star copolymers for RNAi delivery for pancreatic cancer treatment, and it is in collaboration with ImmuONE.
At Research Associate level: To carry out research programmes in the delivery of polymer/RNAi complexes into in vitro cultures and organoids, undertake project management and/or supervise multi-disciplinary teams. The Research Associate will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.
Main Duties:
1. Carry out in vitro work and work with organoids to investigate the delivery of polymer/RNA complexes into pancreatic cells.
2. Characterisation of nanoparticles to identify and develop suitable techniques, and apparatus, for the collection and analysis of data.
3. Assist with the analysis of data.
4. Ensure the validity and reliability of data at all times.
5. Maintain accurate and complete records of all findings.
6. Assist with the writing of reports to research sponsors.
7. Present findings to colleagues.
8. Provide advice to other staff and students.
9. Assist with the publication of findings.
10. Attend relevant workshops and conferences as necessary.
11. Develop contacts within the College and the wider community.
12. Promote the reputation of the Group, the Department and the College.
In addition, at Research Associate level:
13. Take initiatives in the planning of research.
14. Direct the work of small research teams.
15. Write reports for submission to research sponsors.
16. Submit publications to refereed journals.
17. Provide guidance to staff and students.
18. Provide guidance to PhD Students.
19. Research Associate: Hold a PhD in Biology or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience
20. Research Assistant: A first / masters degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Chemistry or related discipline
21. Practical experience within a research environment and / or publication in relevant and refereed journals
22. Experience of dealing with [specific groups of people,. sponsors, patients]
23. Practical experience in a broad range of techniques including [specify area]
24. Knowledge of organoids and 3D tumour models
25. Knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures
26. Ability to conduct a detailed review of recent literature
27. Ability to develop and apply new concepts
