The Main Purpose of the Role:
As our Assistant Psychologist, you will work under the supervision of the Clinical Psychologist in providing psychological support our young people with SEMH needs and ASD needs.
You will work closely with the teaching staff to deliver interventions and support strategies to help our students achieve their full potential, as well as ensuring therapeutic approaches are embedded into classroom practice.
Key duties:
1. Closely observing young people, their behaviour and their interactions with others within the classroom and within less structured environments. Writing clear and very detailed notes on your observations.
2. Ensuring that your notes are well organised and storage ensures data protection.
3. Conducting appropriate 1:1 or small group interventions under the direction of the School’s lead psychologist
4. You will be responsible for ensuring impact of interventions will be measurably improving outcomes for students by baselining, setting targets, conducting formative assessment and producing summative reports for colleagues and parents.
5. Researching and collating evidence-based information regarding specific presenting difficulties (. selective mutism, anxiety and PDA).
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidate qualities:
Essential
6. Psychology Degree
7. An understanding of Autistic Spectrum Conditions and other associated conditions such as ADHD, PDA and Anxiety
8. An understanding of Trauma Informed Behaviours
9. Organised and able to take instruction.
10. As a HLTA you must be a role model to our TA staff members.
11. Experience of using excel and Microsoft including SharePoint.
Desirable
12. Further academic studies / experience in the field of Psychology
13. Experience of running small groups for young people using Evidence Based Interventions
