Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi – About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and approachable Team Leader to join our Student Administration Services team, supporting our Christchurch campuses while a team member is on parental leave.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work alongside a team of administrators, setting the tone, supporting day-to-day operations, and helping create a positive, consistent and welcoming experience for ākonga (learners) and kaimahi (staff).
As Team Leader – Administration, you’ll provide day-to-day operational leadership while also holding a portfolio, providing exceptional administration and customer service. You’ll support the smooth running of our teaching areas and be a key point of connection for ākonga, kaimahi and managers.
In this role you will:
* Lead, support and guide a team of administrators in their day-to-day work
* Create a positive, productive team culture with consistent ways of working
* Coordinate and prioritise workloads in a busy, changing environment
* Provide warm, friendly and responsive administrative support
* Deliver excellent frontline customer service to learners, staff and managers
* Build strong working relationships across faculties and services
This is a part time, fixed term role until 30 April 2027, covering a period of parental leave. We are flexible on how these hours are worked for the right candidate. This could be four full days or five part time days. We are happy to discuss options at interview.
Ngā Pūkenga Me Ngā Wheako – Skills and Experience
We’re looking for someone with sound administration skills who enjoys leading and motivating a team. You’ll be confident juggling different priorities, comfortable working with a range of people, and happy to pitch in where needed.
You’ll bring:
* Experience leading, motivating, training and supporting a team
* Strong coordination skills and the ability to manage fluctuating workloads
* Excellent planning and organisational skills with strong attention to detail
* A calm, solutions-focused approach and the ability to think on your feet
* A genuine commitment to delivering great customer service
* Clear verbal and written communication skills, including minute taking
* Confidence managing multiple open queries and prioritising effectively
* Strong digital skills, including the Microsoft Office suite and learning new systems
* An understanding of confidentiality and professionalism
Experience working in a tertiary or large organisation environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.
