Job Description
This role involves collaborating closely with the Habitation Manager to lead and manage the Habitation area, ensuring effective execution of H&W strategies and policies.
Job Purpose
Actively collaborate with the Habitation Manager to lead and manage the Habitation area and strengthen knowledge and operational capabilities within the Habitation trade to meet all programme requirements effectively.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
HSE
* Preventive leadership.
* Ensure compliance with the annual Prevention and Environmental plans for the Habitation area.
Resources Management
* Support the Habitation Manager in managing productive resources within the area.
* Monitor and track budget (U.P.A. and P.O.A.), area expenses, project scheduling, workload, and underactivity.
* Coordinate activities for each project/program executed by H&W, ensuring proper procedures and quality standards are applied.
* Assist with production management, suggest hiring decisions when capacity is exceeded, and supervise subcontracted work.
* Manage Habitation area resources and subcontracted work.
Technical and Quality
* Follow and/or execute the Habitation Policy/Plan for each project/program.
* Provide technical support to programmes in all matters relating to Habitation.
* Improve production processes affecting Habitation-related disciplines, promoting continuous improvement, IT use, and technological advancement, including training and development of personnel.
* Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Operations in the contracting process through specification preparation and/or technical evaluations.
* Propose improvements or changes related to organization, personnel, infrastructure, and investments for optimized area functioning.
* Support definition and development of necessary procedures for project execution.
* Ensure implementation and communication of Quality within the area, integrating and complying with the QMS.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Guide, mentor and develop a team as a leader.
* Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and non-technical stakeholders.
* Plan and organise, interpreting and updating project plans, identifying variances, and proposing corrective actions.
* Work under pressure.
* Familiarity with naval and maritime codes, classification society rules, and Defence standards.
* Proficient in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Microsoft Office applications.
* Understand Earned Value Management (EVM) and aid decision-making to keep project SPI and CPI healthy.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Understanding of ship Habitation documentation, including HVAC, deck plates, false floors and ceilings, furniture, refrigerated spaces, magazines, stores, galleys, laundries, ship metalwork, stowage, and doors in compliance with class rules (military project experience highly desirable).
* Experience in manufacture, installation, and integration of Habitation systems within the naval or marine industry.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
* Familiarity with international standards and naval classification regulations.
