Job Summary
This is a key role within our organisation and an exciting time to join Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust as we embark on our ePMA journey. The Pharmacy Informatics Officer will act as a specialist, providing technical support, configuration and testing expertise, and superuser status for the clinical systems utilised at WHT to meet the needs of the Trust.
Main Duties
* The technical aspects of the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy systems (including software and hardware).
* Ensuring business as usual is maintained for clinical pharmacy systems.
* Developing and implementing business continuity plans in the event of systems failure.
* Providing data analyst support by producing data reports.
Work together with partners such as IT to ensure that the clinical pharmacy systems are used to support medicines optimisation initiatives and that they meet cyber security requirements of Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
Support and help provide training for clinical pharmacy systems for all staff groups across the Trust.

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 284,300. It provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Responsibilities
* Support the implementation, maintenance and future development of the clinical pharmacy systems, working closely with the Pharmacy and Trust digital project teams.
* Act as a superuser for the clinical pharmacy systems, developing routine housekeeping of the systems to ensure optimal performance and contributing to the development of business continuity plans.
* Maintain and update drug template files for the clinical pharmacy systems and implement the required medicine configuration workflows so they are reproducible through testing to provide clinical assurance.
* Contribute to troubleshooting issues identified by users with clinical pharmacy systems, facilitating training where required.
* Help facilitate improvements in digital literacy for pharmacy staff in conjunction with the training team in readiness for clinical pharmacy system implementation.
* Liaise with medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals and support staff to ensure effective use of clinical pharmacy systems.
* Test business continuity plans.
* Produce routine reports to capture and communicate prescribing and administration information of patients to healthcare professionals.
* Produce ad hoc reports for auditing and other purposes.
Qualifications – Essential
* Educated to degree level or equivalent, or experience in an IT service environment with evidence of relevant skills.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Microsoft Office Qualifications – MOS expert level or ECDL advanced.
* Project management qualification.
Knowledge and Experience – Essential
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting.
* Relevant experience in configuring and optimising clinical systems.
* Knowledge of data validation and change management processes.
* Experience in developing business continuity plans.
* Relevant experience and knowledge of developing data processes and databases.

* Working knowledge and experience of databases including database interrogation tools, e.g. t‑SQL, SSIS, SSRS.
* Able to produce dashboards with Power BI.
