Senior Service Designer role at DWP Digital. DWP is the UK’s largest government department, supporting millions of people with payments worth over £195bn a year.
Responsibilities
* Lead efforts to understand and improve service performance, using storytelling and visualisation to communicate complex service journeys.
* Guide teams in applying service design methods, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and align user needs with business and policy goals.
* Iterate inclusive, resilient services that support the Government’s ‘Get Britain Working’ vision.
* Mentor colleagues and contribute to a culture of openness, learning, and shared practice within the service design community.
Qualifications
* Service Design Expertise: Proven experience designing end‑to‑end, front‑to‑back services that address complex challenges across departments.
* User‑Centred Design: Ability to apply evidence‑based design principles that meet user, colleague, and organisational needs.
* Strategic Communication: Skilled at engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels to support design decisions and service outcomes.
* Collaboration & Facilitation: Capable of leading conversations, building consensus, and fostering teamwork across multidisciplinary groups.
* Mentorship & Community Engagement: Experience mentoring others and contributing to a culture of openness and shared practice within the service design community.
* Tools & Visualisation: Confident in using service design tools, storytelling, and visualisation techniques to articulate service journeys and performance insights.
Location & Working
Hybrid model: 40% home, 60% hub. Digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle‑upon‑Tyne, and Sheffield. Regular travel between hubs is expected.

Competitive pay up to £68,205.
