JOB TITLE: Lead Solutions Architect
SALARY: £92,701 - £109,060
LOCATION: Edinburgh
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our office location.
About this Opportunity
As Lead Solutions Architect, you will partner with Technology and Business teams in the Customer Waterfront lab to define Target Solution Architecture for Direct-to-Consumer digital channels. This role includes driving a scalable, AI-powered customer experience and acting as a technology evangelist within the organisation.
The Customer Waterfront lab operates across Edinburgh, Dundee, and Hyderabad, where you will provide technical leadership to 10 feature teams, senior leaders, and junior solution architects as we evolve our digital platforms (mobile, web, Internet Banking).
We are developing a modern, services-driven architecture to support digitisation, improve customer journeys, achieve business outcomes, and meet strategic goals. Simplifying our technology and data landscape is essential, alongside delivering adaptable core platform capabilities for all customers.

What you’ll need
1. Experience leading complex architectural change involving multiple systems evolving together
2. Extensive knowledge of web and API architecture patterns including microservices, CQRS and publish-subscribe
3. Experience designing solutions for security, reliability and scale
4. Security patterns such as authentication/single-sign-on (e.g. OAuth) as well as encryption both in-transit and at-rest
5. Storytelling ability to communicate Target Architecture and gain support
6. Strong personality and relationship-building to engage product and engineering teams
7. Practical experience in defining technology patterns, standards, and practices for the organisation
8. Customer insight to understand needs and deliver suitable solutions
And any experience of these would be useful
9. Practical experience of designing and building cloud-based platforms at scale (GCP - preferred, Azure or AWS)
10. Understanding of domain driven design architectures and building event-driven systems
11. Experience working in Digital channels with Web and Mobile frameworks
12. Experience owning the architectural strategy for a domain or system
13. Leading & managing other architects
14. Ability to prototype innovations and novel solutions using any tech stack
15. Content management frameworks and tool
