Join a Sheffield-based innovator in solar energy storage solutions and play a key role in developing next-generation control systems that support the UK’s transition to clean energy.
The Role
As a PLC Programmer, you’ll design, develop, and enhance control applications for our cutting-edge solar storage and automation systems. You’ll spend 2 days a week onsite in Sheffield collaborating with our engineering team, and 3 days working remotely to focus on development and testing.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and test PLC-based control applications using CODESYS (IEC 61131-3: ST, FBD, SFC, LD)
* Implement and debug logic for real-time systems, control panels, and industrial automation networks
* Translate functional specifications into scalable and maintainable control logic, with a focus on safety and reliability
* Integrate third-party hardware and communication protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, CANopen, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP)
* Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities
* Maintain technical documentation, version control, and configuration backups to internal quality standards
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues both locally and remotely
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class monitoring and control solutions
About You
* Proficient in CODESYS and familiar with IEC 61131-3 programming languages
* Experience in industrial automation, energy, or control systems
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
