Job Details:
* Title: SEN Mental Health Teaching Assistant
* Location: Bletchley
* Salary: £450-£525 per week
* Start Date: ASAP or September
* Contract: Long-term, 5 days a week, 8:30 - 16:30, early finish on Fridays
This role is suitable for candidates looking to build on their experience with mental health and SEN. It requires the ability to assess and qualify roles for oneself.
It is also an excellent opportunity for graduates interested in Social Justice, Parole, Probation, and the Criminal Justice system, especially those focusing on advocacy related to mental health needs.
About the School:
The provision is located in Milton Keynes, supporting boys and girls aged 7-19 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. It is a larger primary and secondary school with over 50 students, adopting a restorative, therapeutic approach to education and behaviour management, focusing on developing personal and social skills.
Responsibilities:
* Working in classes of 3-6 pupils with a staff-to-student ratio of 1:1
* Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health challenges
Requirements:
* An undergraduate degree (preferable) and/or previous SEN experience, especially suitable for Criminology and Psychology graduates
* Experience or interest in understanding how mental health and autism affect different genders
* Good educational background in English and Maths (5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above)
* Interest in extracurricular activities such as Sport, Cooking, Coding, Dance, Hairdressing, Photography to support personal development
* Knowledge or understanding of various learning and behavioural needs (SEMH)
