Overview
Senior Software Engineer – Location: Remote (UK) – Permanent
RS Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong JavaScript and expertise to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with architects, product owners, systems engineers, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and operate solutions that integrate data from diverse sources. A solid understanding of REST APIs, data transformation, and sequencing of API calls will be key, along with knowledge of Apollo Graph and datagraph structures (nodes, edges, and paths) to effectively navigate and query data relationships.
Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team, striving for collective success.
* Take ownership of technical solutions alongside your engineering manager and architecture teams across the full cloud SDLC.
* Shape and advise on technical best practices to ensure high-quality outcomes.
* Develop testable, maintainable, and production-ready code.
* Mentor and support less experienced engineers, lead code reviews, and contribute to the team’s technical growth.

You're a hands-on engineer with a passion for building scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions. You thrive in a collaborative environment, enjoy mentoring others, and have a natural curiosity for solving complex technical challenges. You’re comfortable owning end-to-end delivery, from design to deployment, and you bring both technical expertise and a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset.
What We’re Looking For
* Strong experience as a software engineer with deep expertise in API development and REST.
* Logical thinker with excellent attention to detail.
* Solid understanding of low-level design principles and technical integration skills.
* Awareness of contemporary engineering best practices and common anti-patterns.
* Experience working in distributed and diverse environments.
* Familiarity with unit testing and TDD practices.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong business awareness and ability to align technical solutions to commercial needs.
* A continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to raise the bar.
