Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic well motivated Clinical Support Worker to support and participate with qualified staff in caring for critically ill patients. You should have good communication and interpersonal skills along with an ability to work as part of a team.

The role does include monitoring stock levels, helping to ensure infection control standards are maintained and liaising with other departments within the hospital.

As a Clinical Support Worker, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications

1. The Care Certificate (or equivalent healthcare qualification).
2. NVQ/Diploma level 2 in Healthcare (or equivalent healthcare qualification) or successful completion of a level 2 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
3. Functional skills English and maths level 1 or GCSE English and maths grade D-G/1-3 or above. (If you don’t have the appropriate English and maths qualifications, your application will be considered and, if appointed, you would be required to achieve functional skills level 1 in English and maths by the end of the first year of employment

Experience

4. Experience as a Healthcare Support Worker or Trainee in a care setting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Please note that appointment to this post will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check at Enhanced Level. All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.

Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s Clinical Induction Programme for Healthcare Support Workers (which starts on the first day of employment). The programme is full-time (please contact the CSW Induction Programme Lead if you have any issues: ), lasts for two weeks and will involve travelling to both Trust sites. The programme includes two supernumerary shifts in the clinical area (an early and a late shift), all of the other days are classroom-based and run from 9am to 5pm.
