A well respected and diverse public sector organisation within West Yorkshire is seeking a Principal Accountant to join their team and have instructed Castlefield Recruitment to assist them with the search. This client is providing a crucial service that impacts the community in a positive manner. This would be the ideal role for someone with experience in public sector finance that is seeking a move into a role that will offer them a perfect setting to flourish and develop.
The successful candidate will receive a starting salary of c.£48,000 along with enhanced annual leave, access to a substantive local government pension scheme, CPD opportunities. They are currently operating a hybrid working policy with 2 days working from home.
The role:
1. Support stakeholders by providing comprehensive and professional financial support to managers and budget holders
2. Lead on the preparation of revenue monitoring and other financial reports for senior leaders
3. Develop and promote more effective ways of delivering the financial service to meet the needs of business users
4. Champion the finance function by contributing effectively to the wider finance team
5. Support all colleagues to ensure high standards of governance and financial control within the team, so that budgets are utilised appropriately, efficiently and effectively
The candidate:
6. You will hold a CCAB qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA/CIPFA) or be in the final stages
7. You will possess experience of operating within a public sector organisation and have a working knowledge of Local Authority finance
8. Possess knowledge of the current and emerging Government legislation & statutory regulations affecting Public Sector organisations
9. You will possess high levels of report writing and analytical skills
10. Strong interpersonal skills will be advantageous
