We’re looking for a motivated graduate analyst or newly qualified lawyer to support the development, implementation, and oversight of our compliance framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fintech business at an exciting stage of growth and play a key role in its regulatory journey.
You’ll ensure Checkboard’s operations remain compliant with applicable laws and regulations, including FCA rules, the UK GDPR, and the Consumer Duty. The role also offers exposure to in-house legal work, including contracts and commercial negotiations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor compliance with FCA regulatory requirements, especially PERG, CONC, and PRIN.
* Maintain and review internal compliance documentation (policies, procedures, registers).
* Assist in preparing for and maintaining certifications such as ISO27001 and UKDIATF.
* Support the drafting of regulatory filings, submissions, and ad hoc responses to the FCA (e.g., change in control notifications).
* Track and report on relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
* Help prepare Board and Risk Committee packs and compliance reports.
* Collaborate with teams to implement and improve compliance controls and risk assessments.
* Provide in-house legal support (e.g., reviewing NDAs, supplier agreements, commercial contracts, and contributing to negotiations).
* Assist in developing and delivering compliance training across the business.
? Who We're Looking For:
* A recent graduate in Law, Finance, or a related field.
* Passionate about financial services regulation, fintech, or compliance.
* Excellent attention to detail, with strong writing and organisation skills.
* A self-starter comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
* A curious and proactive learner who thrives in early-stage company settings.
* Prior experience in compliance is not essential, but internships, research, or extracurriculars in a related area are a plus.
