About the Role
As an Assistant Retail Manager, you will support the Retail Manager to maximise sales and provide excellent customer service. You will uphold the highest standards of store presentation and cleanliness, manage volunteers, and oversee store operations in the Retail Manager’s absence.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Retail Manager in maximising sales by maintaining high standards of display and layout, ensuring proper stock rotation, and setting realistic pricing.
* Provide merchandising updates to stay ahead of trends and competition.
* Maximise Gift Aid income and manage proper display and administration of bought‑in goods, minimising stock loss.
* Engage customers, coach staff to add donations and loyalty sign‑ups.
* Drive community engagement, repeat custom, stock donation, volunteer recruitment, and local involvement.
* Recruit and manage volunteers, ensuring adherence to Marie Curie procedures.
* Take overall responsibility for store management and operation in the Retail Manager’s absence.
Key Criteria
* Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion or clothing.
* Cash handling and financial management experience, including completion of sales records.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer‑first attitude and discretion.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
* Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.
* Experience motivating volunteers is desirable.
