Overview

Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting 1 WTE Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Vocational Specialists to be based across our Secondary Care Mental Health Services. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an established team who provide specialist provision to our SMI service users. The role will support the national ambition of increasing access to IPS Employment Services as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.

The role will support service users in the Black Country and will form an integral part of individuals' recovery and care plans by working collaboratively with clinicians, service users, families and employers. The successful candidate will support a caseload of individuals who have experienced severe and enduring mental health problems who are unemployed.

Responsibilities

* Manage a caseload of clients who have experienced severe and enduring mental health problems.
* Carry out vocational assessments, identify vocational needs and develop action plans in agreement with the individual.
* Maintain detailed and accurate case notes, action plans and client paperwork, and upload these to the management information system within the allocated timeframe.
* Provide information, advice, guidance and support to individuals about the pathways of opportunities available to them to gain and sustain work.
* Support individuals to gain accurate benefits advice, complete paid job applications, compile CVs and prepare for interviews.
* Liaise and arrange meetings with health professionals, partner agencies (voluntary and statutory sectors) and/or employers concerning the individual's needs, including partner organisations that work with diverse groups to develop joint working that enhances service delivery and increases opportunities for individuals.
* Deliver training and workshops (as required) to clients on job applications, CV writing and interview skills to increase their chances of moving into employment.
* Adhere to the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach and the Fidelity Scale, ensuring the service operates as close to the 25 principles as possible.

Compensation and Contracts

* Most NHS roles are paid under the NHS Agenda for Change. Your starting point is set against the advertised band and your relevant NHS service, with progression through annual increments.
* Medical and Very Senior Manager roles follow separate national pay frameworks, not Agenda for Change. Details are provided in each advert and during recruitment.

Standards and Checks

* Clinical posts up to and including Band 4 are expected to hold the Care Certificate. If you don’t have it yet, we’ll support you to complete it in post.
* Some roles require a Standard or Enhanced DBS check under part V of the Police Act 1997. Having a criminal record won’t automatically prevent employment. We consider the role and individual circumstances.

We welcome applications from under‑represented groups and people with lived experience relevant to our services, including Black and Asian colleagues, disabled people, and LGBTQ+ people.
