We are recruiting for a Learning & Development Designer to join our Armed Forces Recruitment Service (AFRS) contract. This is a diverse role where you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality learning solutions for AFRS civilian and service personnel. This role creates engaging blended learning-eLearning, videos, guides, workshops, and systems training-while ensuring alignment with Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT), business needs, and external quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and creation of learning content across digital, face-to-face, and blended formats.
* Maintain the AFRS content library and ensure materials support capability growth.
* Work closely with SMEs, delivery leads and the L&D team to scope, design, and implement training.
* Use and maintain the Defence Learning Environment (DLE), SharePoint and e-portfolio systems.
* Ensure all learning meets DSAT methodology and external quality requirements.
* Evaluate and improve learning using data, feedback, and insights.
* Provide expert advice on learning design, user experience, and blended learning methods.
* Manage design projects within scope, time, and budget.
Skills & Experience
* Strong knowledge of eLearning design, LMS platforms, and digital learning tools (e.g., Articulate, Rise, Vyond, and DLE).
* Understanding of L&D models, blended learning, and user-centred design.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
* Ability to work creatively, manage priorities, and drive continuous improvement.
* Commercial L&D experience desirable.
* Experience of DSAT is desirable.
* The ability to gain BPSS and SC clearance is required; UK travel as needed.
