An exciting apprenticeship opportunity is available for a Content Creator & Communications Assistant at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health.
Supporting the Communications Manager, you will help develop creative and engaging written, visual, and audio content for a wide range of platforms, including the department website, intranet, social media channels, and newsletters. Your ideas and support will help raise the department's profile by showcasing research, teaching, and outreach efforts. You'll assist in evaluating communication activities using analytics, surveys, and feedback, and help maintain digital and physical displays. Supporting the Communications Manager with various projects and building strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers will be key.
Additionally, you'll provide administrative support such as note-taking, coordinating working groups, assisting reception, booking rooms, handling deliveries, and distributing post. You'll also complete any other tasks within your skills and mandatory training required by the University and department. This role offers a great opportunity to develop your skills in content creation and communications while contributing to a dynamic team.
You will be required to complete an 18-month training programme that will cover all aspects of the role, delivered through in-house training alongside structured learning with the training provider. Training attendance and successful completion of the apprenticeship programme is an essential requirement of this post. Training will be provided by Ginger Nut Training. Ginger Nut's delivery is based on a remote, blended model of one-to-one tutor sessions every 4 weeks, group sessions, webinars, online courses, video, and additional support where required. Apprentices are allocated a tutor to guide them through the training, conduct regular meetings and prepare for End Point Assessment.
For this job, you should have at least GCSE-level education with good grades in English and Maths or an equivalent qualification. You need to be able to write and communicate clearly across different platforms like social media, newsletters, and websites. Creativity is important, whether through photography, video, design, or other projects. You should communicate effectively by phone, video calls, and in person. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are essential to manage your workload and meet deadlines. An interest in digital media, content creation, and communications is required, along with a positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn. Experience in providing excellent customer service and the ability to work both independently and in a team are important. You should be familiar with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and PowerPoint and show aptitude for the skills taught in the apprenticeship through work experience, qualifications, or references.
It is desirable that you have knowledge or interest in women's or reproductive health, and an interest in communicating research, education, or health topics to a broad audience. Experience in communicating with businesses, staff, and the public, as well as managing social media content, is a plus. An interest in photography or filming and awareness of data protection and information security, including handling confidential information discreetly, would also be beneficial.

This role is full time and is fixed term 2 years.
Apprenticeship roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route normally used for employed roles but there are other visa routes which candidates may be eligible to apply under. If you are eligible to apply under a different route the department is happy to discuss any queries, with support from the University's Staff Immigration Team. There is also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding on which the Training Provider will be able to offer advice. You do need to have lived in the UK for at least 3 years to be eligible for government-funded apprenticeships in England.
