B Braysher Optometrists is a long‑established, independent practice with a proud reputation for clinical excellence, personal service, and genuine community care. We are now looking for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our friendly team.
This role can be offered as one full‑time position or two part‑time roles, depending on the right candidates.
About the Role
We are seeking someone confident, professional, and passionate about delivering outstanding patient care. You’ll play a key part in the smooth running of the practice, supporting both clinical and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Dispensing a full range of spectacles with accuracy and confidence
* Carrying out frame adjustments and minor repairs
* Providing contact lens tuition and aftercare guidance
* Processing NHS claims and supporting patients with eligibility queries
* Managing patient appointments and general administration
* Delivering warm, knowledgeable customer service throughout the patient journey
* Creating attractive window displays that reflect our brand and seasonal promotions
* Supporting the promotion of the practice through social media posts and engagement
* Assisting with reception duties, stock management, and day‑to‑day practice operations
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
* Previous experience as an Optical Assistant (essential)
* Strong dispensing skills and good product knowledge
* Confidence with frame adjustments and repairs
* Familiarity with NHS claims processes
* A flair for visual presentation and creating appealing window displays
* Confidence using social media to promote a business
* Excellent communication and customer‑care skills
* A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to work well within a small team
* Good organisational skills and confidence with admin tasks
