Main Purpose of the Job

They will also assist the wider HR Team with training and development initiatives.

Main Activities & Responsibilities
Maintain appropriate records on training spend and training activity.
• Maintain and develop the NBI training systems to record both training and development activities undertaken by individuals, their training needs while ensuring statutory training requirements are met.
• Manage the NBI appraisal recording process and log all training requests resulting from the performance management process.
• Monitor and action 'ad-hoc' training requests.
• Record and monitor all NBI training spend and provide regular reports.
• Consider the costs of planned programmes, ensure value for money and keep within budget ensuring appropriate approval is obtained.Take responsibility for issuing and improving Training Management Information (MI).
• Prepare Management Information (MI) on training activity (including annual returns, Strategic HR Committees) as required.
• Issue monthly/quarterly MI to Institute Committees and Management.
• Work with computing to identify system improvements leading reducing administration and improving efficiency.Organise training events and manage the NBI Training Centre.
• Manage the administration of internal and external training events.
• Manage and monitor bookings for the Training Centre and its general running including the setting up of courses and IT equipment.
• Ensure the training information on the intranet is easily accessible and regularly reviewed.Provision of advice on training and development.
• Identify training needs and develop training plans through appraisal reports and regular consultation with relevant managers together with the Training Manager.
• Manage queries from staff and students providing advice where necessary.Monitor and measure the effectiveness and quality of training activities.
• Collect and collate feedback/evaluations from all training activities, making recommendations for areas of improvement where appropriate.
• Produce KPI reports.Monitoring of students training requirements to ensure needs are met.
• Help to monitor student progression through the Postgraduate Training programme.
• Participate in the induction for new students each year and make them aware of the support available to them.
• Support student with queries about their training pathways.General
• Support the delivery of the annual appraisal process, including responding to enquiries and maintaining on-line guidance, support materials and effective liaison with stakeholders across the Institutes / Partnership.
• Source and identify training suppliers ensuring value for money and compliance with agreed procurement practices.
• Contribute to project work when required and work with the team to deliver HR & Training strategy.

The NBI Partnership provides non-scientific services to the John Innes Centre (JIC), Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), Earlham Institute (EI) and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL). All of these organisations carry out scientific research funded by the UK Government, European Union, Charitable and Industrial Sponsors. The Partnership employs around 140 staff to cater for the needs of approximately 1100 Research Staff, Students and Visiting Scientists who are all located in close proximity on the Norwich Research Park.
