Lead / Principal Process Engineer

The Bilfinger Engineering Division is growing fast and we seek talent to support our growth strategy of delivering high quality engineering, design and project services to clients. As a key member of the Bilfinger UK Engineering Team you will work on stimulating EPC projects in the UK. Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee process engineering activities across all project phases—from concept to commissioning.
* Manage and mentor a team of process engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to project timelines.
* Interface with clients, project managers and other discipline leads to align engineering scope and execution strategy.
* Approve and validate process design documents, simulations, and calculations using tools such as Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, or similar.
* Manage process safety through active participation in HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and other risk assessments.
* Implement and enforce change control procedures, ensuring budget and schedule impacts are clearly communicated and managed.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the process discipline, promoting innovation and operational efficiency.
* Support business development and proposal efforts by contributing technical expertise and estimating discipline scope.
Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (Chartered Engineer status preferred).
* 10+ years of experience in process engineering, with at least 5 years in a lead role within EPC/EPCM environments.
* Strong working knowledge of cross-discipline interfaces (Mechanical, Piping, EC&I, Civil, Automation).
* Expertise in process simulation, design, and safety engineering.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strategic mindset with a clear vision for transitioning into engineering management.
