Description
Purpose of Role:
The role of Tool Maintenance Technician will take ownership of the maintenance and repair of all customer and business owned tooling. Managing the condition of all tooling through an established tool database is an essential part of the role, as is the review of tooling and resolution of any issues identified through documented tool reporting.
A successful candidate will have experience of working with tooling used for the manufacture of metallic components. This includes press tooling, build/assembly tooling, work-holding for laser cutting/machining/inspection processes.
A positive outlook is essential, as is enthusiasm, attention to detail and good organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. The ongoing maintenance and repair of all manufacturing tooling used within the business.
2. The cataloguing and segregation of tooling and all associated data (CAD models/drawings/inspection reports).
3. Developing and testing tool functionality within the given process.
4. Managing and carrying out tooling validation and subsequent buy-off, prior to production release.
5. Troubleshooting tooling issues to find safe working solutions, in order to safely release tooling back to production in a timely manner.
Key Requirements:
6. Experience of working in a workshop environment including turning, milling and the operation of other machinery.
7. Competent in the use of rotary hand tools, drills, grinders, polishing equipment etc
8. Experience of working with measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
9. Self-motivated, organised with excellent time management skills.
10. Strong ‘team player’, utilising all available resources to get the best result.
11. Engineering/manufacturing focused with a commercial awareness.
12. Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
13. Excellent interpersonal skills.
14. Computer literate including MS Office (MS Project is also desirable).
Desirable Requirements:
15. Knowledge of press tooling.
16. CAD experience (preferably Solidworks).
17. Able to interpret engineering drawings & GD&T, quality standards & specifications.
18. 3D printing experience (FDM).
