The role of Field Service Engineer:
We are looking for a skilled, hands‑on Field Service Engineer to support our growing fleet of packaging machinery across the UK. This role combines both workshop‑based activities and on‑site servicing at customer locations, ensuring:
* Machinery is installed, maintained, and repaired to the highest standard
* Customers receive responsive and knowledgeable technical support
* New equipment is fully tested and prepared prior to delivery

Key Responsibilities:
Service & Maintenance
* Perform routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance on packaging machinery.
* Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and test machines to ensure optimal performance.
* Act as secondary support to install, commission, and set up machines at customer sites when required.
Pre‑Delivery Inspection (PDI)
* Carry out comprehensive Pre‑Delivery Inspections (PDI) on new machines in the workshop.
* Check all mechanical and electrical systems to ensure machines meet quality and safety standards before shipment.
* Complete PDI documentation and sign‑off prior to dispatch.
* Work with admin & warehouse teams to ensure machines are ready on time for delivery.
Customer Support
* You will not be the first point of contact for customer technical issues, but you may have direct contact with the customer and build a relationship over time.
* Whilst onsite, it may be necessary to train customers on basic machine operation, care, and troubleshooting.
Workshop Responsibilities
* Support workshop activities, including machine rebuilds and preparation of equipment for dispatch.
* Working with workshop team to provide accurate service records, parts usage, and job reports.
Administration & Reporting
* Complete service reports, job sheets, and timesheets accurately and promptly.
* Provide feedback on recurring issues, machine performance trends, and opportunities for improvement.
* Work with the fleet management and purchasing team to request parts and raise service
Key Skills and Essential Experience:
* Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar hands‑on technical role.
* Mechanical and/or electrical knowledge, preferably with experience in packaging or automated machinery, is desirable but not essential.
* Experience with Pre‑Delivery Inspections or machine commissioning is desirable.
* Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
* Ability to work independently in the field and manage your own daily schedule.
* Good communication skills and a customer‑first approach.
* Flexibility to travel to customer sites as needed (car allowance or company vehicle provided)
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
