As a Product Consultant at Kainos, you will be responsible for your team’s backlog maturity, taking ownership of features from inception through to delivery. You will drive MVP thinking and communicate its value to your team, the wider project team, and relevant stakeholders. You will lead agile ceremonies, plan and run workshops, and engage with stakeholders to facilitate consensus in areas of uncertainty. You will support the delivery of initiatives within the Product capability and manage, coach, and develop a small team, focusing on performance management.
Responsibilities
* Own backlog maturity and manage features from inception to delivery.
* Drive MVP thinking and articulate its value to the team and stakeholders.
* Lead agile ceremonies and facilitate workshops with stakeholders to achieve consensus.
* Support delivery of initiatives within the Product capability.
* Coach and develop a small team, focusing on performance management.
Minimum (Essential) Requirements
* Experience in bespoke software delivery as part of an agile team, with client-facing/consulting experience.
* Defence sector experience.
* Active SC clearance.
* Experience across the full software development lifecycle from analysis through launch and live operations.
* Excellent workshop facilitator with ability to lead stakeholder groups to outcomes.
* Experience modelling As-is and To-be business processes and presenting them for buy-in.
* Experience in stakeholder management, challenging decisions when appropriate, and tailoring communication styles.
* Ability to breakdown work items from inception to delivery and manage team backlog for quality and maturity.
* Elicitation of functional, technical, and non-functional requirements and translating them into user stories.
* Proficiency with backlog prioritisation and managing dependencies; ability to deliver MVP within commercial constraints.
* Strong user story writing skills and maintaining quality across the project.
* Ability to build trusted relationships inside and outside the delivery team and collaborate on decomposing work.
* Experience in client/supplier relationships and sensitivity to client needs.
* Experience contributing to sales activities (bids, proposals, etc.).
* Experience in Agile methodologies with mentoring for team members and coaching clients.
* Demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and develop junior team members.
* Ability to explain technical jargon to non-technical/commercial teams.
Desirable
* Ability to participate in technical discussions with a broad understanding of technical terms.
* Experience working closely with clients on site day-to-day.
* Active participation in communities of interest, online groups, meetups, and conferences.
