Research Associate in Health Data Science
Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a Research Associate in Health Data Science to join a dynamic and interdisciplinary research environment. The role is based within the Faculty of Health and Medicine and involves contributing to innovative research focused on the use of advanced data science approaches to improve health outcomes.
General Description
The successful candidate will work on funded research projects involving large-scale health datasets, applying modern analytical and computational techniques to address complex healthcare challenges. Responsibilities include data management, statistical modelling, and the development of reproducible research workflows. The postholder will collaborate closely with academic colleagues, healthcare partners, and other stakeholders, contributing to publications in high-impact journals and dissemination of findings at conferences.
This is a fixed-term position offering an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative academic setting with strong links to national and international research networks. Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a PhD (or be close to completion) in a relevant discipline such as data science, statistics, computer science, epidemiology, or a related field. Candidates should demonstrate experience in handling and analysing complex datasets and a strong interest in health-related research.
Required Expertise/Skills
Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or similar is essential. Candidates should have strong statistical and analytical skills, with experience in data visualisation and interpretation. Knowledge of health data systems and experience working with electronic health records or similar datasets is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams. Experience in academic writing and a track record of publications or conference presentations will be advantageous.
Salary Details
£36,386 to £42,155 per annum (pro rata, depending on experience and qualifications).
