Legal Cashier
Location: Leeds City Centre
Salary: 22000 - 26000
Experience required: 1-2 years in a similar role
About the Role
We are seeking an organised and detail‑oriented Cashier to join a friendly Accounts team at a well‑established Yorkshire law firms Head Office in Leeds city centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with excellent attention to detail, a methodical approach and a can‑do attitude. Youll work quickly and efficiently to meet deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy in a supportive team environment.
Your key responsibilities will include
* Financial Transaction Processing
o Processing financial transactions for the law firm
o Processing incoming and outgoing electronic payments in a timely manner
o Maintaining accurate payment records
o Checking and data entry of bills
o Ensuring office client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily
* Banking and Payment Management
o Conducting daily banking activities
o Taking card payments from clients
o Raising cheques in accordance with fee earners or support staff instructions
o Processing payments accurately and efficiently
o Maintaining comprehensive financial records
* Cash and Expenses Management
o Maintaining the firms petty cash system
o Processing staff expenses
o Reconciling petty cash records
o Ensuring accurate documentation
o Managing cash flow processes
* Compliance and Procedures
o Ensuring transactions comply with SRA Accounts Rules
o Adhering to HMRC regulations and relevant legislation
o Following office and accounts procedures
o Contributing to maintaining and improving processes
o Maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards
* Client and Team Support
o Taking internal and external telephone calls
o Dealing with enquiries in a customer‑friendly manner
o Providing assistance to Accounts and Cashiers team members
o Providing cover for colleagues when required
o Supporting the smooth running of the department
* Administrative Duties
o Maintaining accurate records and documentation
o Using Microsoft Office products effectively
o Managing workload efficiently to meet deadlines
o Any other duties as required by the firm
We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
* Experience: 1-2 years experience in a similar cashier or accounts role
* Proven track record of accurate financial processing
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong organisational and methodical approach
* Ability to work accurately in accordance with team requirements
* Customer‑friendly and effective manner when dealing with enquiries
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
* Strong prioritisation and time management skills
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Good IT skills particularly Microsoft Office products
* Can‑do attitude and willingness to support colleagues
Desirable
* Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules (SRA)
* Previous experience in a legal environment
* Understanding of legal accounting procedures
* Experience with legal accounting softwareKnowledge of HMRC regulations
