Job Description About Autism Plus Autism Plus are a leading Yorkshire Charity supporting adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions and complex needs. In 1986 the Charity was created by a group of parents looking for the very best support for their children who were about to leave a specialist school. Once they reached the age of 17, they found there was little or no support. The belief set by our founding parents, to empower more people to live independent, fulfilling lives remains our focus today. We employ over 350 people across the north of England in care support services, employment support and social enterprise businesses. About the Role: Hours: 30 hours a week, shift pattern to be discussed at interview Location: York You will support and empower people to identify their goals, pursue their interests and hobbies, support their health and wellbeing, and be a part of their local community. You will need to provide innovative and Person Centred solutions for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Mental Health conditions and other disabilities irrespective of where and how they live, to improve their quality of life and to extend and exercise their rights to access more control over their lives. Our Complex Care Support Workers assist individuals who have complex needs and/or mental health issues, in accordance with Care Plans and will offer positive behaviour support to individuals, who express their frustrations and needs through challenging behaviour, by using appropriate strategies. Job Description (includes, but is not limited too) - To assist individuals who have complex needs/mental health issues in their home, in accordance with Care Plans and assess their skills and needs - To offer positive behaviour support to individuals who express their frustrations and needs through challenging behaviour by using appropriate strategies - Provide practical support for individuals such as helping with household tasks including cooking, cleaning, laundry, personal care and paperwork - Provide emotional support to individuals by talking to them and listening to their problems and concerns - Understanding their communication needs and adapting communication to each individual, e.g. sounds, tones, body language - To offer unconditional positive regard to individuals, to respect right to privacy and to ensure that their dignity is maintained at all times - Assisting the Clinical Team in their clinical duties with the individual - Becoming both a role model and companion to the individual and uncovering shared interests, such as hobbies and outings What we offer: • Institute of Employability Professionals Membership • 20% discount at Park House Barns Chocolate • BUPA Health Cash Plan Scheme • Access to the Blue Light Discount Card • Refer‑a‑Friend cash reward scheme • GloSave access (financial wellbeing & savings support) • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays • Company pension scheme • Employee Assistance Programme • Mileage reimbursement for business travel • Ongoing training and continuous professional development • A genuinely rewarding and meaningful role where you will see the impact of your work every day The application process is simple and involves a short application form with a CV upload.
