City of York Council is offering an exciting opportunity to join our developing 0-19 Healthy Child Service as a specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Student Health Visitor/School Nurse.
We are looking for compassionate, accountable individuals motivated to meet the demands of the SCPHN course through attendance at Hull University.
Main duties of the job
You will be a current NMC Registered Nurse (Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health) or Midwife.
You will undertake Specialist Community Public Health Practitioner training, incorporating theoretical and practical elements in order to develop the knowledge and skills required to practice safely and effectively as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Health Visitor/ School Nurse.
You will be responsible for the efficient delivery of a universal core service, targeted interventions and public health interventions to children, young people and their families.

Job responsibilities
You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Healthy Child Programme, under the leadership of the Healthy Child Service Team Manager, to ensure the best health outcomes for children, young people and families across the City of York are achieved.

We know that isn’t the case for everybody though and that is where the Healthy Child Service comes in. The successful candidates will join the Healthy Child Service within Public Health. The Healthy Child Service works alongside early help services, housing, adult services, the police, the voluntary and community sectors, the wider health economy and of course families and communities themselves

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
