COMMERCIAL ESTIMATOR
SHEFFIELD (S9 1US) OR SANDIACRE (NG10 5AN)
COMPETITIVE SALARY
Progress Rail is looking to recruit a Commercial Estimator to support our Sales and Commercial team. This role involves liaising with internal departments and clients to ensure the timely costing, preparation, and submission of applications for payment and contract variations.
THE ROLE:
As a Commercial Estimator, you will be responsible for:
* Managing and overseeing the application for payment process for major clients.
* Preparing accurate cost estimates and variations through collaboration with commercial, technical, production, and supply chain teams across UK sites.
* Submitting applications and variations in line with company authority limits and commercial requirements.
* Responding to client and business queries regarding cost information.
* Supporting the sales and commercial department with cost data and estimates.
* Maintaining and updating sales orders and manufacturing control systems.
* Attending internal and client-facing meetings.
* Providing monthly reports and statistics as required.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal Commercial Estimator will have:
* Previous experience in cost calculation or estimation.
* An engineering or manufacturing background.
* The ability to read engineering drawings.
* Strong commercial acumen and understanding of client requirements.
* Excellent MS Office skills, particularly in Excel.
* Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
* High numerical and literacy proficiency.
* A full UK driver’s license with business insurance (travel to other UK sites required).
* Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.

Specific to trackwork, Progress Rail Services UK (PRS UK) operates across four manufacturing sites in the UK: South Queensferry, Sheffield, Sandiacre and Beeston. As a UK major manufacturer of permanent way infrastructure, we specialise in the design and manufacture of permanent way switches and crossings and engineered products for mainline, freight, industrial and light rail customers in the UK and globally. Our in-house facilities allow PRS UK to have complete control of design and of all major parts, products and assemblies enabling minimum risk to supply.
