Your new role
As an Environmental Health Officer within the Food Safety team, you will carry out inspections of food premises to ensurepliance with food hygiene legislation. You will respond toplaints, investigate food safety issues, and provide advice to businesses on best practices. You will have flexibility to manage your own diary across the week, balancing office-based tasks with on-site inspections.During inspections, you will check hygiene standards, review food storage and preparation practices, examine documentation and ensure staff training and procedures meet legal requirements. Where necessary, you will take enforcement action to protect public health.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you must be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with proven food safety experience. You should be a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and hold a currentpetency framework document. Experience across categories A, B, C, D, and E is essential, with court experience and drafting legal packs also being desired. You must also hold a valid driving licence and be willing to add business insurance to your policy once a start date is confirmed. Strongmunication skills and the ability to manage your workload independently are also key requirements.
