We are currently seeking a SEND Education Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil with SEMH and Autism (ASC) in an Outstanding-rated school in South Shields. The pupil is working at a lower level in Maths, English, and Science and requires tailored academic support alongside help with emotional regulation and behaviour.
You will work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver structured learning activities, provide reassurance and consistency, and help the pupil develop positive coping strategies. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is calm, empathetic, and committed to making a real difference.
The ideal SEND Education Support Assistant will have:
1. Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and/or ASC (desirable but not essential)
2. Confidence supporting learning at a lower level in Maths, English, and Science
3. A calm, patient approach with strong behaviour management skills
4. A passion for inclusion and helping every child reach their potential
5. The ability to support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour
6. A DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
