Main duties of the job
* Conduct brady and complex device outpatient and remote clinics inclusive of CSP, CRT and S-ICD.
* Lead-role physiologist in brady and complex device implantation.
* Support student and team members with their role.
* In-house opportunity to continue professional development with attendance at internal courses.
* Opportunity to participate in an on-call rota if desired.

Job responsibilities
* Deliver a highly specialist clinical service in the CRM department.
* Deliver highly specialist knowledge, implantation and follow-up clinics of multisite pacemakers and devices.
* Work as an independent Cardiac Scientist to deliver a high standard of care to all patients, utilising evidence-based practice to optimise service provision.
* Communicate complex information regarding CIED therapies to the wider MDT, providing support for those with specialist and non-specialist knowledge.
* Availability to participate in an on-call rota providing a 24-hour emergency service for CIED implant and follow up, troubleshooting device issues for both adult and paediatric patients.
Qualifications & Education
* BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiology) or equivalent, or MSc in Cardiac Science with HCPC registration, or working to Master's level in Cardiac Sciences, hold an equivalent qualification or have equivalent experience.
* State registration with the Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS), Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) or Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
* A postgraduate professional qualification, in either British Heart Rhythm Society (BHRS) in Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs) (examination and completed logbook), or International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) qualification.
* Working to MSc level in Cardiac Science/Physiology (CRM) holding an equivalent qualification or with equivalent experience.
* Hold an accredited Immediate Life Support resuscitation certificate.
* Advanced Life Support Resuscitation Certificate.
* Training or mentorship qualification (TAQA, D32/33 or other).
Knowledge & Experience
* Highly specialised post-qualification experience as a Cardiac Physiologist within cardiac rhythm management field with evidence of continuing professional development and demonstrable competency.
* Teaching and assessing responsibilities, supporting development or act as a sponsor for Healthcare Science Cardiac Practitioners who wish to progress into Cardiac Scientist roles.
* Cross-site working including Freeman and RVI sites, as well as the Day Treatment Centre for device implants and troubleshooting issues.
* Attend and provide CIED support in MRI and Radiotherapy departments, triaging appropriate patients and working within the wider MDT.
* Provide expert advice to patients independently via physical and remote monitoring clinics and telephone consultation.
* Independent clinical report writing and producing letters to medical teams and the wider MDT.
* Evidence of participation in practice, performing audits, involvement in research and in service development.
* Experience in a supervisory role.
* Implanter experience for implantable loop recorders (ILRs).
Skills & Abilities
* Proven continuing professional development within specialist field of knowledge including skills such as: Advanced Experience and highly specialist knowledge of all areas of cardiology, including all non-invasive procedures, haemodynamic assessments, interventional cardiac cath-lab procedures. Expert knowledge of adult, paediatric, genetic and congenital conduction disorders, arrhythmias and associated structural heart disease processes. Delivering training to Clinical Physiologists/Practitioners/Scientists and trainees up to MSc level. Expert level pacemaker, ICD and Cardiac Resynchronisation, Conduction system pacing, Subcutaneous ICD implant and follow up. Deliver expert knowledge to surgical team during epicardial CIED implant procedures. Operating a range of computerised system during programming of CIEDs. Competent to perform out of hours emergency (on call) duties where required.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
