Qualifications
* Maintains a valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification appropriate for the grade level and subject area. (Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.)
* Highly Qualified as per Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
* Proven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies, including administrators, parents, teachers, students, other school staff, and visitors.
* Good communication skills both verbal and written.
* Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
* A sense of humor and ability to work politely and friendly with staff, students, and the educational community.
* Any other qualifications deemed appropriate and acceptable by the school department.

Performance Responsibilities
1. Instruct assigned students at designated times and locations.
2. Supervise students and paraprofessionals.
3. Plan a program meeting students' individual needs, interests, and abilities.
4. Create a conducive learning environment.
5. Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation when requested.
6. Guide learning towards curriculum standards with clear objectives.
7. Use varied instructional techniques and media.
8. Implement district and school improvement plans.
9. Evaluate and document student work; provide progress reports.
10. Seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
11. Protect students, equipment, and facilities.
12. Maintain accurate student records.
13. Implement policies on student conduct and develop classroom rules.
14. Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours as needed.
15. Communicate plans with paraeducators regularly.
16. Follow safety and individual student plans.
17. Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
18. Establish cooperative relationships and open communication with students, colleagues, and parents.
19. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or program manager.
