About the Role
We're looking for a CAD and Lifting Equipment Engineer (Entry Level) who will join our team at Faslane, Helensburgh on a permanent basis.
This is an Entry / Graduate level role offering significant training and development and includes options for a 4-day week or 9-day fortnight (days may vary depending on business needs)
In this role you'll alongside the Waterfront Engineering Department, the Surface Support Equipment Department, and the Concept Design Department, in the delivery of high-quality services to our Ministry of Defence and Navy customers, to ensure customer needs are met.
You'll be responsible for inspecting, testing, and assessing a wide range of lifting equipment to ensure it is safe, compliant, and fit for use. Your work will play a key role in maintaining the highest safety standards for our customers, ensuring all equipment performs reliably in demanding environments.
You'll generate and conduct technical analysis of product designs, modifications, and enhancements to products in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. We are looking for someone who can quickly obtain competence to support our endeavours.
1. Working for the Waterfront Associate Manager (WAM), conduct tasks for the initial and ongoing compliance of lifting equipment which requires Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) certification.
2. Providing advice on equipment configuration and manufacture from a compliance aspect.
3. Attending required facility training and Weapon System training as assigned and directed by a personal training profile.
4. Assisting sections with equipment upgrade implementation as required.
5. Providing technical consultancy, assessment, advice, and support to line management, MOD, and other stakeholders to ensure customer needs are met.
6. Conduct, and deliver, technical training and product briefings with customers, vendors, and company representatives.
7. Troubleshoot problems and issues, determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommend actions to company or customer representatives for solution.

Required skills, qualifications and experience
8. Graduate in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related subject or a minimum of a HND with some commercial experience in a Engineering / Technician role.
9. Experience of CAD software (AutoCAD or Solidworks) and knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes including stress and shear analysis through modelling.
10. Able to interpret engineering drawings.
11. Ability to work on own initiative and assist other team members when required, with a customer-focussed approach to workload, and a strong attention to detail.
12. An understanding of the requirement to adhere to applicable documentation within a highly prescriptive environment, and the ability to maintain control of design changes
